Hello all! Another quick check in at the start of the school year. In the month of September I’m teaching at 2 workshops.
First, on Saturday, September 19th, at that the South Fayette Municipal Center, I’ll be running a workshop on the basic mechanics of poetry for the non-poet at the Southwestern Pennsylvania Writers Conference through Ironed Words Productions. You can find out more about at the Ironed Words Productions website. Rumor has it, that the conference is already over 50% sold out.
Then the following week, I am returning to Cooks Forest for the Writer’s Conference of Northern Appalachia’s Writers in the Woods mini-conference on September 26th. I’m proud to be on the board at WCoNA, and Writer’s in the Woods is one of my favorite rituals of the fall. I will be running a generative workshop about conflict, that will be applicable to writers of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and drama.
Finally, I have the first of 2 new poems at the poetry cool kid Ezine The Rye and Whiskey Review. I’ve been reading The Rye and Whiskey Review for some time now and some of my poetic heros have been published there for the last few years. This just goes to show a piece of advice I give my students is true: “If you’re looking for your audience, you should realize that you’re already in it.”
